Story: Hanuman & Sita
Hanuman & Sita |
Plot Summary
As the monkey armies of King Surgiva searched for Sita all over the world, they got a lead from Vulture Sampati, brother of Jatayu, that Sita was taken by Ravana. After hearing this, Hanuman wanted to make sure that Sita was in Lanka, the city where Ravana lived. So he traveled to Lanka over the great ocean. He got to Lanka, the capital city governed by King Demon Ravana. He looked throughout the city in desperation to find Sita. He entered Ravana's quarters and found his wives, he almost mistook one of his wives for Sita. Hanuman found Sita at the Ashoka Grove, guarded by Rakshasas. He saw Ravana threating Sita and pressuring her to be with him, he gave Sita a three-month ultimatum. After talking to Sita, Hanuman started attacking the Rakshasas, and he was captured and presented to Ravana. He said that he was an envoy from Rama and they did not kill him, but he was sentenced to have his tailed burned. Sita prayed to the Fire God, and the fire did not harm Hanuman's tale. He then proceeded to use his flaming tail to attack the Rakshasas and ended up burning half of the city of Lanka.
My thoughts
Here we are introduced to Hanuman, one of the immortals. I found the adventures and actions Hanuman in Lanka to be interesting. I could understand that he attacked the Rakshasas in the grove, but once he was captured and his life spared, I did not like that he started attacking and destroyed the city.
